A lifelong social justice activist and educator, Dr. Virginia Marie was a member of the Official Trayvon Martin Coalition and movement from its inception where she served as PR assistant and grassroots organizer to the cause that soon birthed a national, then global, reawakening of the civil right movement.
“Virginia Marie (Ginnie) Love is an unsung hero of the Trayvon Martin and civil rights movement,” says Benjamin Crump, Civil Rights Attorney and Leader and attorney of the Trayvon Martin family.
Dr. Virginia Marie also served as a representative and consultant bringing national attention to African-American Private Firefighter Mikel Neal's 2015 noose case in Marion, Indiana, the home of the infamous August 7, 1930 lynching of Thomas Shipp and Abram Smith pictured on Public Enemy’s Hazy Shade of Criminal album cover. Marion, Indiana, is also the inspiration of the Billie Holiday classic, “Strange Fruit,” and her hometown, serving as the backdrop for an upcoming memoir.
“Virginia Marie (Gin) Love, Ph.D. is an unsung hero of the Trayvon Martin and civil rights movement. Acting in the background of prominent national and global social justice events, she imparts her unique perspective as a white woman in a world in which she is passionate to awaken to its skewed and subconscious beliefs on racial inequality. A visionary and impactor of social change, her thoughts and words offer insight and direction relevant to our current challenges.
An ally for racial equality and justice, Dr. Love brings a unique perspective to the topic of understanding "white privilege", having been married to an African-American man and raising a blended family of two. The experiences of racism that her family encountered propelled her as an emerging agent for change."

"What the world needs right now is a strong dose of Dr. Virginia Marie Love! Her big-hearted approach to one of the ugliest issues in American history – racism -- promises to draw in new audiences thirsting for insight and hope. If her personal story of living and loving in a racially mixed family doesn’t compel, her holistic understanding of the human journey will.
I met Dr. Love through a mutual friend who wanted us to connect as white women deeply committed to racial justice. Our first phone call lasted over an hour, and most since then have been at least that long. Each time I connect with Virginia Marie (Gin), I’m reminded of why I do what I do. Unwavering in her ability to weave together history and current events with universal human longings, Dr. Love's wisdom never fails to leave me with a renewed commitment to restoring humanity in a culture where dehumanization has become the norm.
Rarely does one person offer so many on-ramps to engaging with an issue as intimidating as American racism. Dr. Virginia Marie's approach reminds us all of who we are when we’re in a state of integrity, curiosity, and love." -Debby Irving, author, Waking Up White, and Finding Myself in the Story of Race, lecturer and social justice education
“This is a woman with a heart and spirit filled with the passion of righting the wrongs and putting an honest discussion on the table about the dynamics of white privilege and the violence of racism.
I met Virginia Marie Love during the Trayvon Martin travesty. I reached out to her because I had not heard many white women with her clarity and articulation.
We have spoken heart to heart about the pains and challenges of racism; both passive-aggressive racist actions and systemic racism.
Gin is a unique voice in the media echo chamber. Her steadfast passion as a healer and a fighter make her a vital voice of our time.
